Kansas City comes off its bye at 4-0 without Rashee Rice or Tyquan Thornton, so Patrick Mahomes will lean on Travis Kelce, Xavier Worthy and two young receivers against the winless Chargers.

The Chiefs are 4-0, rested after a bye and hosting a Chargers team that hasn't won a game. The catch is that their two best receivers won't be catching anything today.

Rashee Rice is out with a right hamstring injury, the team announced, and Tyquan Thornton is on injured reserve with a dislocated left ankle. The pair has combined for 24 catches, 409 yards and three touchdowns, per ESPN's Nate Taylor.

Patrick Mahomes is expected to lean on Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy, with rookie Cyrus Allen and second-year receiver Jalen Royals in line for more snaps. “They’re ready,” Mahomes said, per ESPN. “They’ve put in the work.”

Allen sounds ready, too. “I only need one to get me going,” he said. Coach Andy Reid suggested Rice could be back next week against Seattle, calling him “a pretty fast healer.”

What's next: Chargers at Chiefs kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS. Left tackle Josh Simmons is also out, though he practiced all week for the first time in almost two months.
