Some résumés say "proficient in Excel." Kirsten Simms' says Olympic gold medallist.
The Toronto Sceptres have signed Simms, the eighth overall pick in June's PWHL draft, to a three-year contract through the 2028-29 season. She's the first member of Toronto's 2026 draft class to sign.
Her numbers are a little silly: 100 goals and 238 points in 152 games at Wisconsin, plus three national championships. The 22-year-old from Plymouth, Michigan, also won gold with the United States at the Winter Olympics in Milan.
"Toronto is the best hockey market in the world," Simms said in the team's announcement. GM Gina Kingsbury praised her "offensive skill and creativity." And the Sceptres' social team shared the most relatable detail of all: she's a huge sneakerhead.
What's next: PWHL training camps open Nov. 18. The Sceptres start the season in Ottawa on Sunday, Dec. 6, then host PWHL Hamilton in their home opener on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
