The PWHL is throwing its first-ever All-Star party, and it's going back to where the league started: Toronto. It's on March 7 at Scotiabank Arena.

The format is the fun part. Instead of one big game, four teams will play a 3-on-3 tournament: PWHL Canada, PWHL USA, PWHL International and PWHL Rookies. In 3-on-3, each team has only three skaters on the ice instead of five, which means a lot more open ice. Anyone in their first PWHL season, whatever their age, is eligible for the Rookies team first. Each roster has 10 players. Fans, players and media will all help vote in the starters.

"The 3-on-3 format creates an intense, fast-paced style of play," said Jayna Hefford, the PWHL's executive vice president of hockey operations.

Toronto is already counting down. There's a countdown clock at Union Station, and Laura Stacey signed a commemorative All-Star puck that's now on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

What's next: Season 4 starts Dec. 5. The tournament airs on TSN and Radio-Canada in Canada and on ION in the U.S.
