The San Francisco 49ers are 5-0, and they've done it without Nick Bosa. They'll have to do it for at least one more week.

The team ruled its star defensive end out for Monday night against the Washington Commanders as he recovers from a calf injury. Bosa sounded optimistic last week, but he didn't practice at all this week. "We would've been pleasantly surprised if he could go," coach Kyle Shanahan said, per ESPN. "So, this is kind of what we were expecting."

The happier update: fullback Kyle Juszczyk is back from a knee sprain and bone bruise that was initially expected to keep him out two to three weeks. "Juice has always been fast every time he's ever been hurt, but this was really impressive," Shanahan said.

Receiver Mike Evans (Achilles soreness) is questionable. Asked about him, Shanahan said, "We'll know on Monday." Deebo Samuel (hamstring) is out.

What's next: The Commanders (1-3-1) visit the 49ers on Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN and ABC.
