Flames fans, maybe look away from the standings for a second. Calgary is 1-6 and still looking for its first home win (0-3). Sunday night's visitor? The Carolina Hurricanes, winners of seven straight and 5-0 on the road, per the AP.
Carolina is banged up, though, with Taylor Hall (upper body), Seth Jarvis (shoulder) and Jordan Staal (calf) all out. Calgary is missing Jonathan Huberdeau (hip) and Samuel Honzek.
Now for the good vibes. Goalie Dustin Wolf, who was 3 when the Flames made their 2004 run to the Stanley Cup Final, practised Saturday in new gear inspired by that team's goalie, Miikka Kiprusoff: skulls on a black mask and white pads with a vintage logo. Wolf said Kiprusoff and his old painter gave it their blessing.
"He's such a big presence in the city, and obviously, his number's hanging from the rafters," Wolf said, per the Flames. "So just to be able to kind of share that and be a part of it is pretty special."
What's next: Hurricanes at Flames, Sunday at 8 p.m. ET. Wolf's throwback look is expected to debut Oct. 24 against Detroit.
