Here's a fun fact to bring to Sunday's watch party: no matter what happens, this World Series is going to end a very long wait.
The Milwaukee Brewers, who swept the Dodgers, have never won it all. Founded in 1970, they've been to the World Series once, losing to the Cardinals in seven games in 1982, per ESPN.
Their opponent will be either the Tampa Bay Rays or the Cleveland Guardians, and the ALCS is tied 2-2. The Rays have never won a title either. They lost the World Series in 2008 to the Phillies and in 2020 to the Dodgers. Cleveland's drought dates back to 1948, the longest in baseball. As MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince put it, that's as old as Scrabble and Velcro.
The Brewers have been so busy celebrating that manager Pat Murphy apparently lost track of the calendar. When an MLB official said, "We'll see you in Milwaukee at the World Series," Murphy replied, "When's that start?" per MLB.com.
Answer, Murph: Friday, Oct. 23, in Milwaukee. First, ALCS Game 5 is Sunday at 3 p.m. MT in Cleveland.
